The Economist Audio Edition Issu
The Economist online offers authoritative insight and opinion on international news, politics, business, finance, science and technology. It publishes all articles from The Economist print edition (including those printed only in British copies) and maintains a searchable online archive that dates back June 1997. It also offers a variety of web-only content, including blogs, debates and audio/video programs. The Economist online is part of The Economist Group and is responsible for The Economist on the internet. It has offices in New York, London, and San Francisco, and a growing worldwide editorial staff.
?We decided to integrate our popular audio edition into both apps, with all articles from the print edition read by professional newscasters, and synced to each article,? Mr. Grut said. ?This lets readers switch easily between reading and listening to our articles.
Since July 2007, there has also been a complete audio edition of the paper available 9 pm London time on Thursdays. The audio version of The Economist is produced by the production company Talking Issues. The company records the full text of the newspaper in MP3 format, including the extra pages in the UK edition. The weekly 130 MB download is free for subscribers and available for a fee for non-subscribers. The publication's writers adopt a tight style that seeks to include the maximum amount of information in a limited space. David G. Bradley, publisher of The Atlantic, described the formula as "a consistent world view expressed, consistently, in tight and engaging prose".
The Economist frequently receives letters from its readership in response to the previous week's edition. While it is known to feature letters from senior businesspeople, politicians, ambassadors, and spokespeople, the paper includes letters from typical readers as well. Well-written or witty responses from anyone are considered, and controversial issues frequently produce a torrent of letters. For example, the survey of corporate social responsibility, published January 2005, produced largely critical letters from Oxfam, the World Food Programme, United Nations Global Compact, the Chairman of BT Group, an ex-Director of Shell and the UK Institute of Directors.

This second edition of Econometrics also fills another practical gap in understanding that may limit the ways in which econometric analyses are applied in practice. Because antitrust analysis has become more sophisticated, it is likely that sometime in his or her career, an antitrust attorney will have to work with an economist to develop an empirical study that may involve econometric methods, prepare an argument or brief that incorporates facts that are derived from an econometric study, or cross-examine an economic expert on an econometric study that he or she may have done. This book will help attorneys appreciate the power and value of an econometric analysis and to work with economic experts more effectively by giving antitrust attorneys a better feel and understanding of why econometric techniques are useful and the types of applications in which statistics and econometrics can be and should be applied.
In addition, the book discusses the potential pitfalls in the use of econometric methods, how econometric methods have been used in the courtroom, and the evidentiary and discovery issues that often arise in connection with econometric work that is done in the context of a merger review or litigation. This edition will be a valuable resource for all antitrust attorneys who regularly work with economic experts and those who are interested in understanding the power of economics and econometric analysis in antitrust. 350c69d7ab
